Dirk Beinhold

Dirk Beinhold (* 1968 in Berlin ) is a German film producer.

Life

Dirk Beinhold studied political science in Berlin before working as a freelance producer for various TV formats and finally developing tip-tv, which became known as a cult magazine, for the ORB (later as Polylux in the ARD).

From 1994 to 1996 he was the first German to study film production in the renowned Peter Stark Program at USC in Los Angeles and worked as a trainee at Warner Brothers. As Creative Executive at New Regency Productions, he was involved in the development and production of films such as Heat, The Jury, Tin Cup, Murder in the White House and LA Confidential (Academy Award® 1996 for Best Book Adaptation).

From 1996 to 1998, as deputy head of in-house production, he was jointly responsible for all German-language, fictional formats at ProSieben Media AG. From 1998 to 2001 Dirk Beinhold was creative director of film production at Studio Babelsberg and at the same time worked for UFA Film- & TV-Produktion for a year.

In 2001, he and his American wife, Vinh Pham-Beinhold, founded an international production company, Akkord Film Produktion GmbH, based in Berlin and Cologne. From 2010 visiting professor for international co-productions (Chapman University Singapore).

  • 2010: Gemini Award for the best "Visual Effects" for "Ben Hur"
