Dirk Braun

Dirk Braun (born February 27, 1970 in Winterberg ) is a German sports lumberjack . The trained forester was also two-time German and European bodybuilding champions in the 1990s .

Life

Dirk Braun completed an apprenticeship as a forest manager. In 2003, the former bodybuilder began felling sports and took part in the German championships in Winterberg for the first time. In 2005 and 2006 he was German champion of the Stihl Timbersports Series and was able to prevail against four-time German champion Werner Brohammer . In Garmisch-Partenkirchen at the European Championships, he was only just defeated by defending champion Martin Komárek and won the European Vice-Champion title. Braun contested the world championship in Virginia Beach as the best European.

In September 2007 Dirk Braun became the first German to win the European title in Waiblingen. In the Stihl Timbersports World Cup 2007 in Oberstdorf he represented Germany and reached eighth place. He was able to successfully defend his title as European champion in St. Johann in Tirol in 2008 and won ahead of the Swiss Hermann Schönbächler and the Czech Martin Komárek. At the 2011 World Championships in Roermond, Braun took 4th place. In 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 he was also German champion again.

Dirk Braun is married, has three children and lives in Winterberg.
