Dirk Kreimer
Dirk Kreimer (born July 12, 1960 ) is a German mathematical physicist .
Life
Kreimer received his doctorate in 1992 from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (dimensional regularization in the standard model). He is a researcher at the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques (IHES) near Paris and a professor at Boston University . In 2010 he was appointed to an Alexander von Humboldt professorship at the planned Interdisciplinary Center for Mathematical Physics at the Humboldt University in Berlin (Adlershof).
Kreimer became known in the 1990s for his work on Hopf algebra structures in the renormalization theory of quantum field theories , partly in collaboration with Alain Connes . The work also fits into Connes' theory of non-commutative geometry.
He also examined the application of further mathematical concepts such as knot theory , mixed Hodge structures, polylogarithms in perturbation theory renormalizable quantum field theories. Kreimer also thinks (contrary to conventional opinion) to have found indications of the renormalizability of quantum gravity (2008).
