Dirk Matten

Dirk Matten (born July 13, 1965 in Oberhausen ) is a German economist.

Life

Matten studied at the University of Essen . After graduating with a degree in business administration in 1989, he worked as a research assistant at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf , where he obtained his doctorate in 1997 and qualified as a professor in 2004.

From 1999 to 2002 Matten worked as a DAAD specialist lecturer for business ethics at the European Business Management School of the University of Wales in Swansea . He was then a research fellow at the International Center for Corporate Social Responsibility at Nottingham University Business School until 2004 .

From 2004 Matten headed the Sustainability Research Center at the University of London . In 2007 he followed a call to York University in Toronto , where he has headed the Center of Excellence for Responsible Business since 2010 . He is co-author of the A to Z of Corporate Social Responsibility , with Wayne Visser and Nick Tolhurst (Wiley, 2007).
