Dirk Mommertz (born August 12, 1974 in Mainz ) is a German pianist and chamber musician .

Dirk Mommertz, who grew up in Michelstadt in the Odenwald, began his musical training on the violin . He was a young student at the Akademie für Tonkunst (Darmstadt) , as a violinist with Brigitte Fröhlich and as a pianist with Grigory Gruzman . He began his studies in 1994 at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe with André Boainain and continued at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main with Lev Natochenny , the Musikhochschule Köln with the Alban Berg Quartet and the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris with George Pludermacher . He experienced further musical influences from Misha Katz and Mikhail Bezverkhny . As a piano soloist , he was accompanied by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales , the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra , the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra , the MDR Symphony Orchestra and the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra .

Teaching

From 2000 to 2005 Dirk Mommertz was a lecturer at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe . From 2005 to 2015 he was professor of chamber music at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, and from 2012 to 2015 at the Nuremberg University of Music . In 2015 he was appointed to the Munich University of Music and Theater , where he has been professor for chamber music ever since.

Fauré Quartet

In 1995, Dirk Mommertz at the Academy of Music Karlsruhe with his fellow Erika Geldsetzer, Sascha Frömbling and Konstantin Heidrich the Fauré Quartet , Quartet in Residence of the Academy of Music Karlsruhe . It has remained unchanged to this day.
