Dirk Schwieger

Dirk Schwieger (* 1978 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German comic artist .

life and work

After graduating from high school in 1998, Schwieger studied fine arts from 2000 to 2005 at the University of the Arts in Berlin. His teachers there included u. a. Georg Baselitz and Daniel Richter .

Schwieger has been self-publishing the comic novella in each other since 2000 . Each issue of the series, which appears at random and consists of 13 issues, contains a contribution by a guest artist. Among other things, stories by Fabian Stoltz and Frederik Peeters have already appeared in one another .

After completing his studies, Schwieger spent a year in Japan , during which the interactive comic blog Moresukine was created. The blog developed into an insider tip and Dirk Schwieger had his readers set tasks that forced him to deal with his chosen home there. Internet users from all over the world sent in-laws on missions to discover the secrets of Japanese cuisine or to plunge into Tokyo's infamous nightlife.

Prior to that, Schwieger had already stayed in Iceland for a year from 2002 to 2003 .

His stories are u. a. been published in Renate , Moga Mobo , Tentakel and Panik Elektro .

Dirk Schwieger lives and works in Berlin.

Awards

Schwieger received the Sondermann award in the “Newcomer” category at the 2007 Frankfurt Book Fair .
