Dirk Weinspach

Dirk Weinspach (* 1959 in Pforzheim ) is a German lawyer and has been police chief in Aachen since June 1, 2014 .

Before starting school, the family moved to the Rhineland . Weinspach studied law in Berlin and Münster . He then worked in various areas at the Cologne District Government and in the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of the Interior . There he was responsible for local and foreign affairs as well as the training of police officers. Most recently, Weinspach headed the right-wing extremism department at the Office for the Protection of the Constitution in North Rhine-Westphalia .

As police chief of Aachen, he is responsible, among other things, for the demonstrations and occupations in the Hambacher Forst , the Inden opencast mine and the Garzweiler opencast mine .

Weinspach was awarded the Gustav Noske Prize in 2016 for his services to the rule of law and democracy .

Weinspach is married and has three children.
