Dirko Juchem

Dirko Juchem (* 1961 in Koblenz ) is a German jazz musician.

Life

Juchem studied jazz and popular music with Herb Geller in Hamburg and at the Cologne University of Music . He then worked as a live and studio musician for various artists, bands and shows, among others. a. with the Circus Roncalli and the Circus Flic Flac , with the singer Harald Juhnke and on an international level with the American jazz singer Sara K. , songwriters Allan Taylor and Paul Anka .

He has participated in around 100 CD, DVD and LP productions; Tours have taken him to Los Angeles and Taiwan. Since 1998 he has been a saxophonist and flutist in the band of children's songwriter Rolf Zuckowski and has been playing with Thomas Anders since 2003 . Juchem released six CDs of his own, including the album acoustic groove , which he a. a. recorded with the Hammond organist Barbara Dennerlein .

Since 1992 Juchem has been teaching saxophone and flute at various music schools and giving workshops. Since 2008 he has been cooperating with the instrument manufacturer Jupiter and teaching at the Rock-Pop-Jazz University of Applied Sciences in Central Hesse. He has published numerous text books, CDs and instructional DVDs for saxophonists and flutists.

Since 2007 Juchem has been developing his “jazz flute - beatboxing” solo program with a new flute technique in which beatbox rhythms are produced at the same time as the mouth to play the flute . (See also: Beatbox mixed forms: playing instruments )
