The Dirty Projectors are an American rock band from New York around the singer-songwriter Dave Longstreth.

biography

Longstreth began recording his own songs in the early 2000s. In 2002 his first album was released under his own name, then he released the album The Glad Fact for the first time with Adam Forkner under the name Dirty Projectors . In the following years he released further albums in quick succession in collaboration with other musicians, from which the band then formed. The breakthrough came in 2009 with the album Please Orca , which made it into the top 100 of the US album charts .

With the next album Swing Lo Magellan , which was released in 2012, they were able to expand their success internationally. Singer Amber Coffman had in 2012 the song Get Free of Major Lazer with that also for a commercial by Vodafone was used.

In addition to his own band, Longstreth also worked as a music producer , for example in autumn 2015 he produced Azeel , Bombino's fifth studio album .

With the release of the EP Flight Tower in May 2020, the band announced that they would be releasing five EPs in the course of the year, with one band member each doing all the vocal parts.
