Diseño de Sistemas en Silicio SA , DS2 for short, was a Spanish company based in Paterna , Province of Valencia that developed integrated circuits for carrier frequency systems.
DS2 integrated circuits have been used by BT , Telefónica , ITT , Alcatel and IBM for IPTV , among others .
DS2 invented the high-speed powerline communication, thereby enabling the networking of multimedia and entertainment applications at home as well as high-quality broadband internet access over the power grid in apartments, offices, houses both in the city and in rural communities. In 2004, DS2 presented the first system for powerline communication with 200 Mbit / s, followed in 2008 by the world's first fully compatible systems for 100, 200 and 400 Mbit / s.
In 2005 DS2 founded the trading company Universal Powerline Association (UPA) with some customers as a counterweight to the HomePlug Powerline Alliance .
In August 2010, after bankruptcy proceedings and the subsequent dissolution of the company, the developed technology was taken over by the Marvell Technology Group .
