Marvell Technology Group is a fabless manufacturer of memory , telecommunications and semiconductor products with legal headquarters in Bermuda.
Overview
The product range covers the following areas:
- End customers: Ethernet , wireless LAN , Voice over IP (VoIP), system modules, storage solutions and embedded systems .
- Corporate customers: Marvell manufactures semiconductor solutions for network switches , routers and WLAN products. Marvell was the first manufacturer with marketable Gigabit Ethernet switching solutions.
- Storage: Solutions that are based on a single, highly integrated chip and are fully equipped with a network interface, hard disk interface and other components.
Marvell was founded in 1995 by Sehat Sutardja and his wife Weili Dai and employs over 7,000 people (as of 2015). Marvell has its operational headquarters and main development center in Santa Clara and additional development centers in Aliso Viejo , Colorado , Massachusetts and San Diego as well as outside the US in Germany , Switzerland , Israel , Japan , Singapore and Taiwan ; Distribution centers exist worldwide.
XScale processor technology has been part of Marvell since it was sold by Intel in 2006 . The purchase price was 600 million US dollars in cash and other unspecified liabilities.
In 2010, Marvell introduced a new SoC , the Marvell Armada .
In April 2016, the founding couple was pushed out of their management positions (previously CEO and President).
