The División de Honor de Fútbol Sala is the highest Spanish futsal league . It has existed since the 1989/90 season and is operated by the Liga Nacional de Fútbolo Sala (LNFS). Spanish league teams have so far won four of the seven UEFA Futsal Cups and three of four FIFA Futsal World Cups , which is why the championship is considered to be the world's strongest.
Regulations
The league plays according to the FIFA Futsal Regulations . 16 clubs take part in the championship, each of which has a round trip. The positions in the table are based on the points scored in the games: three points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a defeat. In the event of a tie, the goal difference does not immediately decide on the placement, but the results of the direct clashes of the teams with the same number of points. After the regular season, the last two clubs in the table relegate directly to the second division, the División Plata . The first eight, however, contest a play-off for the championship.
The winner of the competition qualifies directly for the UEFA Futsal Cup and also contests the Supercup against the cup winners and the Copa Ibérica against the Portuguese champions.
