The Division d'Honneur 2009 was the 59th season of the New Caledonian Division d'Honneur . After the conclusion of the Division d'Honneur in 2008/09 , the match operations were switched to the calendar year. Before that, the season ran from September or October to February or March, as is usual in Europe. This change made the 2009 season a transition. The winner of the Grande Terre region was declared champion, there was no play-off round like in the other seasons. As before, the game was played in a 4-2-1 point system.
The AS Magenta sat three points clear by and was the sixth time New Caledonian football champions. With this title win, the club qualified for the OFC Champions League 2009/10 . Descended AS Thio Sport and RC Poindimié , the climber from the Promotion d'Honneur were JS Baco and AS Kunié . In the Lifou region , AS Kirikitr prevailed, as there were no playoffs due to the shortened season, the club could not fight for the football championship this year. For the coming season there was again a playoff round to determine the New Caledonian football champions.
