Django 3000 is a Bavarian folk rock band.

Band history

The trio from the Upper Bavarian Chiemgau is named after the jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and his "Gipsy-Swing" in reference to their own orientation towards this music with violin, acoustic guitar and double bass. In 2011 they uploaded a video of their song Heidi (music: Starflinger / text: Astl) to the Internet platform YouTube and received a lot of attention. They got a record deal with Seven Days Music and released their debut album in March 2012 under the band name Django 3000, with which they were able to place themselves and their Bavarian “Balkan Beat” in the German album charts. Lorenz “Astl” Schmid left the band around the release date of the first album and Kamil Müller (previously only guitar and background vocals) took over the position of singer. Lorenz "Astl" Schmid has since been active as a singer with "Lenze und de Buam".

The second album Hopaaa! appeared on the label südpolrecords , the albums Bonaparty and Bonaparty live on RCA / Sony Music . The title track Bonaparty features the Finnish band Jaakko Laitinen & Väära Raha , who they met on their concert tour in Russia in 2015.

The album Im Sturm was released again on the Südpolrecords label in January 2017, this time also on vinyl for the first time.

On July 2, 2017, Django 3000 announced via Facebook that they had separated from their bassist Michael Unfried Fenzl.

At the beginning of 2018, they released an Unplugged EP with five titles, which visitors to the Unplugged Tour received for free. Since then, the new members Korbinian Kugler (double bass) and Max Schuller (keyboard) have also played with the band. Max Schuller left the band at the end of 2019. Since then, they have performed again without a keyboard player.

Their song Heidi was in the fall of 2012 as the theme song of the new TV series The Garmisch-cops of ZDF selected. TV appearances followed, among others, at Inas Nacht , the Stadlshow or in December 2015 as part of the program Rock the Classic with Wigald Boning .

Over time, the band also made a name for themselves on the festival scene. So they played u. a. at the Taubertal Festival , Chiemsee Summer , Open Flair , Montreux Jazz Festival , Danube Island Festival , Gampel Open Air and St. Gallen Open Air.

The band has played around 100 concerts a year in German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Italy) since it was founded. In addition, there are regular concert tours z. B. Hungary (2012), Denmark (2013), Russia (2014), Finland (2015), South Korea (2015), India (2016).

Every year in January in Staudach-Egerndach in Chiemgau , the hometown of two of the band members, the so-called "home concerts" take place, to which hundreds of fans from all over Germany travel.
