Dmitri Borisovich Glinka
Dmitri Borissowitsch Glinka ( Russian Дмитрий Борисович Глинка , Ukrainian Дмитро Борисович Глінка ; * November 27th July / 10th December 1917 greg. In Alexandrov-Dar , today the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast ) was a Soviet fighter † March 1, 1979 .
Life
Glinka's father was a Ukrainian miner. In 1939 Glinka graduated from the military aviation school in Katschinsk. In the German-Soviet War he flew in the southern section of the front from January 1942 until the end of the war. He carried out 300 combat flights in which he fought 90 dogfights and shot down 50 enemy aircraft. In the aerial battles over the Kuban bridgehead , he distinguished himself particularly. He was an advocate of "free hunting".
He was a hero of the Soviet Union twice (April 21, 1943 and August 24, 1943) and five times the Order of the Red Banner . In 1942 he became a member of the CPSU .
After being transferred to reserve in 1960, he wrote articles for the specialized press and worked in civil aviation and among youth.
