Dmitri Yakovlevich Pokrass

Dmitry Yakovlevich Pokrass ( Russian Дмитрий Яковлевич Покрасс ; born October 26, jul. / 7. November  1899 greg. In Kiev ; † 20th December 1978 in Moscow ) was a Soviet musician and composer of military marches , mass songs, soundtracks and easier Estrada -Schlager .

He began his musical career as a soldier in the First Cavalry Army. At that time, among other things, the “Budjonny March” (1920, text by A. D'Aktil), one of the first Soviet songs to become known throughout the country, was written. He worked as a composer, conductor and pianist. Together with his brother Daniil Jakowlewitsch Pokrass ( Даниил Яковлевич Покрасс ; born November 30, 1905 in Kiev, † March 16, 1954 in Moscow) he wrote the music for a number of feature films. For his film music for Wir aus Kronstadt ( Мы из Кронштадта , 1936) and When there is war tomorrow ( Если завтра война , 1938) he received the State Prize of the USSR in 1941 . Some of these films were also dubbed in German and v. a. known in the GDR, including Young Life ( Трактористы ; 1939; directed by Iwan Pyrjew ) and Mädchen mit Character (1939; directed by Konstantin Judin). From 1936–1972 Dmitri Ja was in charge. Pokrass the dance orchestra of the Railway Culture House. He became a member of the CPSU in 1940 and a People's Artist of the RSFSR in 1963 and a People 's Artist of the USSR in 1975 . In 1973 he was awarded the A.V. Alexandrov Gold Medal.

Many popular songs come from the Pokrass brothers, including "Москва майская" (from the film Двадцатый май , 1937), "Прощание" (actually "Прощальная" , "Прощальная" комсомольская комсомольская комсома ", from the film 1938 " and "комсома" виская комсомольс38 " and " комсома ", вискат, from the film 1938" Young life / Трактористы , 1938).
