Dmitri Alexejewitsch Ogai ( Kazakh / Russian : Дмитрий Алексеевич Огай; born May 14, 1960 in Jambul ) is a Kazakh football coach and former Soviet football player .

Player career

Dmitri Ogai belongs to the Korean minority in Kazakhstan . He started his career with Kairat Alma-Ata in 1980 . The midfielder then moved to Pachtakor Tashkent , where he stayed until 1983. After an interlude with Chimik Jambul , he returned to Kairat from 1986 to 1988. He then went back to Chimik Jambul and last moved to Shakhtar Qaraghandy , where he ended his career in 1991.

As an active professional player, he was active from 1980 to 1991 and spent seven seasons in the highest Soviet league .

Coaching career

After his time as an active footballer, Ogai worked as a coach. After first division positions with Jessil Bogatyr Petropawl and Irtysch Pawlodar , he was Tobol Qostanai's head coach from 2005 to 2009 . In August 2010 he took over the post of head coach at FK Taras . In December 2011 Ogai became the head coach of the Russian second division Ural Sverdlovsk Oblast .
