Dobilas Jonas Kirvelis (* 17th December 1940 in Alytus , Lithuanian SSR ) is a Lithuanian biophysicist and bio cyberneticist and former politician.

Life

After graduating from the Kupiškis Middle School in 1957 , he completed his diploma studies at the Kauno politechnikos institutas in 1963 and from 1964 to 1967 the postgraduate degree in Moscow . Then he organized the laboratory of biophysics and neurocybernetics at the Vilniaus universitetas (VU). In 1975 he received his doctorate in the natural sciences on the subject of "Quasi-holographic video form principles of the functional organization of the visual apparatus". From 1970 he teaches biophysics , biometrics and neuroinformatics at the VU and at the Vilniaus Gedimino technikos universitetas . From 1989 to 1994 he was dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at VU.

From 1990 to 1995 he was a deputy of the Vilnius City Council , from July 2004 to November 2004 a member of the Seimas .
