history

Historical logo

The company was founded in 1922 by Eugen Dürrwächter (1897–1980). The company founder started a precious metal refinery for the recovery of gold and silver for the jewelry industry in Pforzheim. In 1930 he set up a factory in Pforzheim for the manufacture of contact materials, semi-finished products and contact parts. DODUCO has also been represented at the Sinsheim site since 1941 and has had a plant in Madrid since 1976 . In 1971 the Princely House of Thurn & Taxis group acquired the majority. On August 31, 1996, after a previous settlement application, the subsequent bankruptcy was opened by the Pforzheim District Court. Jobst Wellensiek was appointed bankruptcy administrator . Business operations continued. In 1996 the Technitrol Group took over the traditional Pforzheim company DODUCO. Technitrol united the German company with AMI in North America, which has belonged to Technitrol since 1968, in its internationally operating "Electrical Contacts" division. This new division of Technitrol has been operating under the global common name AMI DODUCO since 1998. In July 1998 AMI DODUCO took over the Mexican company Metales y Contactos, SA. In November 1999 the company Tianjin Electrical Metal Works in China was acquired. In September 2010 the investor group Tinicum Capital Partners II from New York and JP Asia Partners from Singapore took over AMI DODUCO's branches in Europe and Asia. The company is now trading under the traditional name DODUCO. In the first half of the year, IG Metall concluded a restructuring and site security collective agreement with DODUCO with job security. In June 2020, Saxonia Edelmetalle took over DODUCO.
