Dog Fashion Disco is originally from Rockville , Maryland native band . Due to the many different styles of music, ranging from jazz to circus music to progressive metal , the genre is often referred to as avant-garde metal or experimental metal.

Band history

Shortly after their formation, before they even released tracks, the band was still called Hug The Retard ; However, they found this name too offensive and renamed themselves Dog Fashion Disco.

The first two albums Erotic Massage (1997) and Experiments in Alchemy (1998) were self-produced. The album The Embryos in Bloom , released in 2000, was produced by Outerloop Records.

From 2001 to 2003 they were signed to Spitfire Records , where the albums Anarchists Of Good Taste (2001), the EP Mutilated Genitals (2001) and Committed To A Bright Future (2003) were released.

Serj Tankian from System of a Down contributed vocals at times to the song Mushroom Cult on the album Anarchists Of Good Taste .

On Committed To A Bright Future , among other things, a re-release of the song Pogo The Clown was released , which was already published on Experiments in Alchemy and deals with the deeds of the so-called killer clown John Wayne Gacy .

The EP Day Of The Dead (2004) was again self-produced. In 2005 they released their first live album, The City Is Alive Tonight..Live in Baltimore under the Artemis Records label .

In 2006 Dog Fashion Disco released the album Adultery on the Rotten Records label , and in the summer of the same year the band went on tour for the last time. On December 5, 2006, they announced the upcoming termination on their myspace page.

On January 13th 2007 they gave a final concert in front of a sold out hall in Baltimore .

After Dog Fashion Disco was dissolved in 2007, the former band members Todd Smith, Jasan Stepp and John Ensminger decided to found the band Polkadot Cadaver , which released the album Purgatory Dance Party that same year .

On July 25, 2008 it was announced on their myspace page that there will be another concert on September 12, 2008 with the original line-up. As a specialty, the very early original DFD member Steve Mears was supposed to play the electric bass. At the concert the release of the new DFDVD II and the CD Beating a Dead Horse to Death .... Again , which contains rarities, was celebrated. The concert took place again in Baltimore.

In 2013 the band got together again and recorded the Indiegogo funded album Sweet Nothings . In October 2015, the follow-up album Ad Nauseam , which is closely related to the material from Sweet Nothings, was released .
