Dolmen Steenodde
The Dolmen Steenodde is a covered by a mound passage grave (also called megalithic hereinafter). It is located near the village of Steenodde in the municipality of Nebel on the North Sea island of Amrum in the district of North Friesland , in Schleswig-Holstein .
Location and description
The dolmen is located about 500 m southwest of Steenodde, in a small wood on the path with the Öömrang name Ual Hööw (High German "Old Church Service"). The barrow is located in a round hill 4 m high with a diameter of 14 to 18 m. In Atlas of Germany megalithic of Ernst Sprockhoff the Dolmen as or "fog (Amrum) grave 2" "Sprockhoff # 12." Out. It is a rectangular pole with a corridor. The dolmen is oriented in a northeast-southwest direction. The visible stones are all in situ . There are two bearing stones on each of the two long sides, and a third bearing stone is on the southwest narrow side. The chamber is closed by two cap stones. On the other narrow side there is half a support stone, in the gap there is a threshold stone. The inside of the chamber is approximately 1.6 mx 0.9 m. The attached corridor consists of two pairs of stones with missing cap stones.
Esenhugh , the largest burial mound on Amrum, is nearby .
