Dolmen d'Arreganyats
The Dolmen d'Arreganyats (or de la Llosa) is one of the dolmen of Espolla with ten other megalithic structures . It is located north of Espolla , in the Comarca Alt Empordà in the province of Girona in Catalonia in Spain .
It was first mentioned in 1881 by Salvador Sanpere i Miquel. In 1912, Manuel Cazurro i Ruiz published the system. The dolmen dates from around 3450 BC. And lies in a cork oak forest. Today it is a short trapezoidal gallery grave made of granite slabs with a narrow corridor made of dry brickwork and granite slabs, inside of which ceramic remains were found.
Excavations
- Between 1915 and 1920, Pere Bosch i Gimpera (1891–1974) and Lluís Pericot i Garcia (1899–1978) carried out excavations. They are rebuilding the complex (it will be given a polygonal chamber with a corridor only found as the beginning) and classifying it as a gallery grave.
- In 1970, Joan Ruiz i Solanes made an addition in which a plate was moved to its current position.
- In 1979 Josep Tarrús i Galter, Júlia Chinchilla y Sánchez, Josep Castells i Camp and Rosó Vilardell i Pascual started the new excavation and published the results in 1982 and 1983.
- In 1986 the monument is restored for the first time.
- In 1988 there was another operation by Sara Aliaga, Oriol Mercadal and Josep Anton Molina.
- In 1989 there was an investigation by Josep Tarrús i Galter and Júlia Chinchilla y Sanchez with the aim of taking samples and adding a passage to the dolmen.
- In 1995 an urgent restoration was carried out by Josep Tarrús i Galter.
