Dolmen de la Combe des Dames

The Dolmen de la Combe des Dames ( German  "Valley of the Ladies" = of the fairies; also Combe des Dames or Pierre Levée Châteaubernard called) is located in the Rue de la Pierre Levée, south of the road N141 / E603 in the west of Châteaubernard in the west of the Charente department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The 4.0 × 3.30 m ceiling slab was moved from its original location in 1976 and placed on two boulders . The capstone of the Dolmens de la Combe, however, is smaller than the large capstones characteristic of the Angevin type of the nearby dolmen of Séchebec in Cognac and dolmen of Gardeépée (also Garde Epée) in Saint-Brice in the Cognac region.
