The Palosuo Islands are a group of small islands and reef rocks west of the Antarctic Peninsula . They belong to the Biscoe Islands archipelago and are 2.5 km north of Maurstad Point off the west side of Renaud Island .
The islands are first shown on an Argentine map from 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1959 after the Finnish oceanographer Erkki Palosuo (1912-2007), whose main research focus was the formation of sea ice .
