Dolmen de Pierre Brulée

The Dolmen de la Pierre-Brûlée, excavated in 1866, is located in Volnay , south of the D17, between Meloisey and Pommard , near the intersection with the D23 in the Côte-d'Or department in Burgundy in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The dolmen, which is hidden up to the lower edge of the only 0.6 m thick capstone (about 4.5 × 2.85 m) in a hill about 15 m in diameter, lies on the edge of a plateau. The rectangular, about one meter high, north-east-south-west oriented chamber (about 3.3 × 1.55 m) consists of six, partly small-format, lined supporting stones and the ceiling slab protruding on all sides. The recessed polygonal access part formed by Pierre sèche is slightly off-center in the southeast. It was probably added later or is the remains of a passage.

Arrowheads and teeth have been found alongside countless human bones .
