The Dolmen de la Pierre Fouquerée, view from the south

The Dolmen de la Pierre Fouquerée is a dolmen about 800 m south of the village of Ardillières in the Charente-Maritime department , France . It is located around 250 m west of the "rue de la Metairie" dirt road or west of the La Metairie farmstead and the "Bois des Mottes" in the middle of a field . It is therefore normally only visible and accessible after the harvest. In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

Only one bearing stone in the west supports the limestone ceiling slab that rests on the ground in the east. A second bearing stone or the end stone that once closed the chamber in the east lies horizontally in the east, but the cover plate does not rest on it. In the north there are broken remains of one or more bearing stones. The chamber is almost rectangular. There is nothing left of the tumulus that originally protected the building .

The dolmen has been registered and protected as a monument historique since 1889 .
