The Dolmen di Monte Acuto is located in a clearing on a high plateau at the foot of Mount Acuto, west of Berchidda in the province of Sassari in Sardinia . The monument is dated to the late Neolithic at the transition to the Copper Age. The facility was used during the Bronze Age and the Middle Ages .

description

The northeast-southwest oriented from granite slabs built Dolmen is one of the largest in the Gallura . The rectangular megalithic complex has a length of about 4.0 m, a width of 1.3 to 1.5 m and a height of 1.0 to 1.5 m. It is formed laterally by two orthostats. The structure is covered by a polygonal plate (length about 4.0 m, width about 2.8 m) broken in two. The plate has nine bowls (ital. Copella). A circular area in front of the facility, on the edge of a cliff, was surrounded by a wall and rocks. A fallen menhir was identified in the remains . The dolmen was excavated by Paola Basoli in 1994.

The Abialzos dolmen with the “Santa Caterina” and the “Sant'Andrea” are also located near Berchidda .
