Dolmen of La Betoulle

The four dolmens of La Betoulle lie on either side of a road, west of the hamlet of La Betoulle, south of Berneuil in the Haute-Vienne department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The four dolmens formed a narrow trapezoid. Dolmens No. 1, 3 and 4 are badly ruined, while No. 2 is still standing. The reconstructed dolmen No. 2 stands in a field. Its broken capstone lies over six bearing stones, measures 3.6 × 3.4 m and has a deep groove. It covers a chamber about 3.0 × 2.0 m. Some of the six bearing stones have been put together from fragments.

The dolmens have been registered as a monument historique since 1982/83 .
