Dolmen of Quelarn
The dolmen of Quélarn (also called La Garenne des Korrigans) are located near the village of Quélarn, southwest of Plobannalec-Lesconil , near Pont-l'Abbé in the Finistère department in Brittany in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).
The megaliths of Quélarn, built during the Neolithic Age , are part of a necropolis in which 27 tombs, but only a halfway intact dolmen, were found at the end of the 19th century.
In recent excavations it has been found that Quélarn, similar to the Cairn of Barnenez , was an approximately 50.0 meter long west-east oriented cairn with six dolmens, into which long corridors to the south of four to sixfold divided chambers of 8 .0 to 10.0 meters in length. Although the facility was already used as a quarry in the Middle Ages, the site has been excavated, restored and provided with an explanation board. It is a type of monument that occurs only in the coastal area of Brittany.
The menhir of Quélarn , which was placed under protection in 1929, stands about twenty meters to the south . It is a split stone that is not a "menhir indicateur" but belonged to the hill border.
The Tronval dolmen is about 100 m away .
