Dolmen of Sophienhof

The large stone grave Dolmen von Sophienhof is located about 1 km northeast of the Sophienhof estate, on the slope of the Kronsberg. Gut Sophienhof belongs to the municipality of Waabs in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein . The megalithic system of the funnel beaker culture (TBK) was created between 3500 and 2800 BC. In the "Atlas of Megalithic Tombs of Germany" by Ernst Sprockhoff , the dolmen is listed as "Sprockhoff 65".

The chamber

The stone chamber is oriented northwest-southeast and is well preserved. It is an enlarged dolmen whose long sides consist of two pairs of bearing stones. The southeast pair has leaned inward sharply. At the northwest end there is a single capstone, opposite the entry stone is missing. The chamber is covered with a capstone, its dimensions are 3.2 m × 1.7 m × 1.2 m. On the capstone there are some hardly visible bowls .
