The Dom Handlowy Galeria Skarbek is a department store in Katowice at Rynek between 3 Maja Street and the Ulica Adam Mickiewicz . The building was constructed in the 1970s. Up until 1864 there was an inn on this site, which was considered to be one of the nucleus of Katowice. In 1864 the building of the inn collapsed. The aluminum wall cladding comes from France and was paid for with coal in an exchange deal.
From 2005 to 2007 the facade of the building was renewed and two external elevators were installed.
There are several shops in the department store, including the Społem company and a delicatessen.
