The neo-Gothic cruciform church was inaugurated in 1893 in honor of King Oskar II as Oscar Fredriks kyrka , based on drawings by the Swedish architect Adolf Emil Melander (1845–1933) . After the establishment of the Luleå diocese in 1904, the church became a bishopric.
The parish belongs to Luleå domkyrkoförsamling .
organ
The organ with 4,585 pipes was built by the Grönlund organ builder in Gammelstad and inaugurated in 1987. In 2011 the Chamaden registers were added. The instrument has 63 stops on three manuals and a pedal . The playing and stop actions are mechanical, the couplings are electrical.
