Domarring from Åbrott

The Domarring of Åbrott in the Swedish province of Västra Götalands län and the historic province of Bohuslän in Sweden is a stone circle in the forest, near the road O 922, northeast of Fjällbacka . Domarrings are graves from the early Iron Age . The term "Domarring" can be traced back to earlier times. The circles were associated with the jurisprudence and thought that a certain odd number of judges in the circles gave judgments.

The stone circle, restored in 1940, has a diameter of about 18.0 m and consists of 22 stones and one stone in the middle. The number of stones in this tomb is remarkably high. Stone circles usually consist of five to 13 stones, usually with an odd number. In most cases there are nine.

The remains of a cremation grave were found in the middle . A glass beaker and a bone comb were found as grave goods. Stone circles are just one of many grave shapes in the Iron Age .

Next to the Domarring ( German  "Richterring" ) are a dozen Iron Age graves, which were marked with a building stone . However, most of these stones fell over. Several graves were damaged by a gravel pit .
