Dome Peak (English dome summit ) is a heavily glaciated mountain in the northern Cascade Range in the State of Washington . It is located in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest , just outside the North Cascades National Park . It is entirely within the Glacier Peak Wilderness , the strictest class of wildlife sanctuary in the United States.

Dome Peak forms the southern end of the Ptarmigan Traverse , a mountain hiking route from the Skagit River over the Cascade Pass in the national park to the catchment area of Lake Chelan , which provides a historically important connection between the indigenous Indians from the coast to the interior.

Like the entire northern cascade range, Dome Peak is poorly developed, there is no road connection near the mountain, so a long walk is required. This remoteness and the height make the mountain difficult to access, which is why it is a rather rare destination for mountaineers in the Cascade Range .
