Domenico Millelire
Domenico Millelire (* 1761 on La Maddalena ; † August 14, 1827 there ) was a soldier in the Navy of the Kingdom of Sardinia-Piedmont . He joined the Navy as a volunteer in 1778. During the defense of the archipelago of La Maddalena ( Sardinia ) and the local naval base against an attack by French revolutionary forces ( battle near La Maddalena ), he distinguished himself in February 1793. Millelire later became an officer and ultimately in command of the La Maddalena naval base. Millelire was among the first to be awarded the Medaglia d'oro al valor militare .
