Dominique Bilde

Dominique Bilde (born August 1, 1953 in Nancy ) is a French politician of the Rassemblement National (RN). She has been a member of the European Parliament since 2014 .

Life

Bilde has been the secretary of the right-wing extremist Front National (renamed Rassemblement National in 2018) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department since 2009 . In the 2010 regional elections she was elected to the Lorraine Regional Council, to which she was a member until the region was dissolved at the end of 2015. Since 2016 she has been the regional councilor of the new Grand Est region (merger of Lorraine, Alsace and Champagne-Ardenne ).

In the 2014 European elections she was elected to the European Parliament as the representative of the constituency of Eastern France . There she was initially non-attached, from 2015 a member of the right-wing extremist group Europe of Nations and Freedom . From 2014 to 2019 she was a member of the Committee on Culture and Education and a delegate for relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. In November 2017, the Court of the European Union sentenced her to repay the European Parliament 40,000 euros, which had been paid for a parliamentary employee, but whose actual activity could not be proven. In March 2019, the EU Parliament lifted Bild's immunity to allow the French public prosecutor's office to be charged with suspected breach of trust, stealing of misappropriated funds, gang fraud, forgery and use of forged documents and undeclared work.

Since her re-election as MEP in May 2019 , she has been a member of the Identity and Democracy Group in the European Parliament. She is a member of the Development Committee and a delegate for the EU-Montenegro Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee and the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly .

Her son Bruno Bilde is also a FN / RN politician and has been a member of the French National Assembly since 2017.
