Dominique van Oost
Dominique Joseph van Oost (born August 8, 1677 in Lille ; † September 30, 1738 there ) was a history and portrait painter .
Live and act
The son of Jakob van Oost the Younger was naturalized in Lille in 1699. He represented the third generation of the van Oost family of artists. His creative field were Lille and Tournai . Only a few works by him have survived. In 1720 he made the portraits of Emperor Charles VI. and Prince Eugene for the Schöffensaal in Tournai. In the same year he portrayed a canon for the boardroom of the Hôpital Notre-Dame in the same city.
The portrait of the legal scholar Patou from 1726 is in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lille. Further works were in the church institutions of his hometown.
