Do not Break Me (dt .: Do not make me break ) is a song by Montaigne , which she wrote with Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci. She won the show Eurovision 2020: Australia Decides with the song and should have represented Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam .

The song was presented as part of the Australian Eurovision preliminary decision and was released as digital stream and download on January 31, 2020. In the preliminary decision, which took place on February 8th, Montaigne was able to unite the highest number of points from the jury as well as the second highest number of points from the audience, which made her the winner of the event with a total of 107 points.

Content

The performer sees the song as a representation of the last phase of a relationship, in which one person puts more effort into the relationship than the other. This brings the person to despair and frustration. Montaigne was inspired by Melody Beattie 's book Die Sucht zu sein (see co-dependency ).
