Kassius Hallinger

Kassius Hallinger (born August 8, 1911 in Gernsheim , † October 24, 1991 in Würzburg ) was a German Benedictine (OSB) and church historian .

Life

He studied philosophy and theology after joining the Münsterschwarzach Abbey in 1930 and as a second degree at the University of Würzburg. After being ordained a priest in 1936, he was drafted into the Wehrmacht from 1940 to 1945. After receiving his doctorate in 1948 as Dr. phil. In 1949 he was appointed to the Pontificio Ateneo Sant'Anselmo in Würzburg , where he taught first until 1953 as a lecturer and then until 1986 as professor for church history in the Middle Ages and modern times.
