Under the title Eurovision 2020: Australia Decides , the Australian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 took place in Rotterdam ( Netherlands ) on February 8, 2020 . It should be the second edition of this program. The singer Montaigne won with her song Don't Break Me .

On August 29, 2019, the broadcasting television company, the public service broadcaster Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), and the production company Blink TV Production announced that they would continue the concept of the first Australian preliminary decision Eurovision 2019: Australia Decides . According to this, ten artists and ten songs should again take part in the preliminary round taking place in the Gold Coast Convention Center. 50 percent of the winner will be determined by jury and televoting.
The jury consisted of the following members:
- Josh Martin - SBS entertainment coordinator and Australian head of delegation
- Kate Miller-Heidke - participant in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019
- Måns Zelmerlöw - winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015
- Milly Petriella - Head of Member Relations at APRA AMCOS
- Paul Clarke - Head of Blink TV and Creative Director of Eurovision 2020: Australia Decides
As in the previous year, the broadcast took place at the Gold Coast Convention Center in Gold Coast .
Choice of contribution
Between August 28 and September 30, 2019, composers had the opportunity to submit a contribution to the Australian television station SBS. It was only possible that only citizens of Australia were allowed to submit contributions. In addition, composers could submit more than one contribution.
Attendees
The ten participants in the program will be presented from November 2019 to January 2020. Two artists are presented for each announcement. On November 7, 2019, SBS presented the first two participants, followed by two more participants on November 19 and December 5, 2019. On December 16, 2019, the broadcaster SBS announced the complete field of participants

The finals took place on February 8, 2020 at the Gold Coast Convention Center in Gold Coast . A total of ten participants present their songs there before the jury and the audience decide on the winner. Kate Miller-Heidke opened the show with her song Zero Gravity , with which she won the Australian preliminary round in 2019 and represented Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv ( Israel ). During the voting phase , Måns Zelmerlöw presented the song Hereos, with which he won the Melodifestivalen 2015 and the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 . Dami Im also performed her new song Marching On . Most recently, Måns Zelmerlöw and Dami Im sang the song Walk With Me together
Montaigne won the jury voting and Casey Donovan the televoting. Nevertheless, 53 points in televoting were enough for Montaigne to win the preliminary round. With a lead of seven points she prevailed over Casey Donovan.
