Kate Miller-Heidke (born November 16, 1981 ) is an Australian singer and songwriter from Brisbane .
biography
Miller-Heidke studied classical singing, completing her studies with a Master's degree as a Master of Music. She then began a career as a classical singer in the soprano voice. From 2000 to 2004 she was also a member of the pop band Elsewhere , which also released an EP. After the band split up, Miller-Heidke continued solo. She recorded her own EPs and appeared several times on Women in Voice , for which she received a Helpmann Award in 2005 for the best performance of the year. She then signed a record deal with Sony-BMG Australia and released her debut album Little Eve in 2007 . It reached number 11 on the Australian charts and also produced a smaller single hit with Words . The following year the album Curiouser was released , which reached number 2 and was awarded platinum . With the song The Last Day on Earth she had a number 3 hit the following year. In addition, she continues to work as an opera singer and composer.
She won on 9 February 2019 the Australian qualifying round Euro Vision 2019: Australia Decides , the first public pre-selection of the country to the Euro Vision Song Contest ever, with the Pop-Opera -song Zero Gravity . With 261 points she won the first semifinals and finished 9th overall with 284 points. In addition, she received the Marcel Bezençon Prize for best artistic achievement.
