Don Donaldson

Don Donaldson (* around 1910 , † after 1959 ) was an American jazz pianist and arranger .

Live and act

Donaldson, who came from Cape Cod , played as a pianist in the early 1940s for Sidney Bechet & His New Orleans Feetwarmers, on whose recordings for Victor Records and V-Disc he was involved. During this time he was also active as an arranger and worked a. a. with Louis Prima and Fats Waller , for whom he wrote an arrangement on Gershwin's I Got Rhythm and also served as the director of his studio big band. In 1934 Waller toured with Don Donaldson's orchestra. In 1959 he still worked with the jazz singer Debby Moore ( My Kind of Blues ).
