Don Francisco (singer)
Don Francisco (born February 28, 1946 in Louisville , Kentucky ) is a singer and composer of modern Christian music .
After graduating from school, he began a career as a singer, which was initially not very successful. He became a Christian at the age of 28 and now wrote songs on Christian subjects. His music is heavily influenced by American country music , many of his songs are ballads and some are influenced by rock 'n' roll .
Don Francisco became known for his long narrative songs. For example in the song too small a price he tells of one of the two thieves who were crucified next to Jesus . In 1980 his song He's alive was awarded the Dove Award as Song of the Year by the Gospel Music Association .
In the eighties he had several successful tours in the USA , on which he was accompanied by a band. In 1991 he broke his record deal. Since then he has been producing his own records. Since the 1990s he has performed more frequently as a duo with his wife Wendy. They live in Livermore, Colorado , where they run a small music publishing company and produce their records in their own recording studio.
