Don Gil was an Austrian fashion company.

history

The company was founded in 1971 by Peter Szlatinay in Vienna and was represented with 31 branches throughout Austria and Prague until December 13, 2011 . The company is named after the hero from Tirso de Molina's comedy, Don Gil of the Green Pants , written around 1615 and published in 1635.

Originally specialized in casual, high-quality men's fashion from various international brands, the chain ended up having six Don Gil Donna locations and three BOSS mono stores. In addition to BOSS and its sub-brands Black , Green and Orange , the clothing store carried men's classics such as Cerruti , Zegna and Ralph Lauren , mainstreams from Germany and Italy such as Windsor , Boglioli and Mason's , sportswear from Marina Yachting , shirts from Van Laack , jeans from Diesel and Armani , Adidas and Magnanni shoes . Plus for the ladies Michael Starr , House of the Gods and Gold Case . In addition, there was still the Don Gil own brand , classic men's suits from Vienna.

The company was most recently owned by the Italian Fashion Network SpA and has annual sales of 70 million euros.

On October 25, 2011 bankruptcy was opened. In November 2011, Don Gil was taken over by the Gerry Weber fashion group .
