Don Haskins
Donald Lee "Don" Haskins (born March 14, 1930 in Enid , Oklahoma, † September 7, 2008 ) coached the basketball team of the Texas Western College in the National Collegiate Athletic Association .
Life
He won with the first team in which only black players played in the starting lineup, the NCAA basketball tournament in 1966 against the University of Kentucky, coached by Adolph Rupp , with a 72:65 victory in the National Championship Game . The game went down in history as an integral part of the civil rights movement in the United States .
Don Haskins was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1997 . With the admission of the 1966 Miners in 2007, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame for the second time.
His career as a basketball coach was also filmed in the movie Game on Victory , which is originally called Glory Road .
