Don Randi

Don Randi (* 25. February 1937 in New York City as Don Schwartz ) is an American pianist and composer in the field of jazz , pop and classical music.

Since the 1960s he has worked with a variety of well-known rock, pop, jazz and soul musicians. Among other things, he participated already on the hit Good Vibrations of the Beach Boys or played for ABBA .

Randi has long lived and worked in the greater Los Angeles area. He is known there as the owner of the Studio City Club and the Baked Potato . He also gained fame as the longtime band leader of Quest, which plays in fusion and crossover style. Raised in the Catskill Mountains of New York, Don Randi received classical music lessons for thirteen years. In 1954 he moved to the Los Angeles area. He has been a busy studio musician ever since; He wrote soundtracks for numerous film and television productions and played along with them, as well as for advertising and pop albums. Randi recorded in 1960 under his own name for the World Pacific label , for Verve Records (1962 in a trio with Leroy Vinnegar and Mel Lewis ), as well as for the Palomar, Reprise, Capitol, Poppy, Sheffield Lab and Headfirst labels. Don Randi appears regularly with Quest in the Baked Potato .

He worked with artists as diverse as Carole King , James Brown , Marvin Gaye , Quincy Jones , Simon and Garfunkel , Frank Zappa, and Frank Sinatra , among many others .
