Donald Baird (athlete)
Donald Baird ( Donald George "Don" Baird ; born May 29, 1951 ) is a former Australian pole vaulter .
In 1974 he won the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch . In the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he was twelfth and at the 1977 IAAF World Cup in Dusseldorf fourth. In 1978 he won silver at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton .
In 1974 he was starting German champion for KSV Hessen Kassel and in 1975 French and US champion. As a student at California State University, Long Beach , he won the NCAA indoor title in 1977 . He set his personal best of 5.53 m on April 16, 1977 in Long Beach .
