Donald Leroy Evans

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Donald Leroy Evans (born 1957 - January 5, 1999 in Parchman , Mississippi ) was an American serial killer .

Evans was from Michigan and was a Marine . He had several criminal records. He once attempted suicide . In 1986 he was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for sexual assault , from which he was paroled in April 1991. A psychiatric report from 1987 certified that he had been "behaviorally disturbed and insane throughout his life".

Evans was working as a night porter when he was arrested on August 5, 1991 in Biloxi , Mississippi, for the kidnapping , rape and murder of a 10-year-old girl in Gulfport . He had strangled the homeless child. He then boasted of having committed over 70 other murders in various states since 1977 , and provided a variety of details. According to him, most of the victims were women, many of whom he had also sexually abused and strangled. However, no bodies could be found in the places he described. Based on the perpetrator's knowledge of the course of the crime, only two murders of black prostitutes in Fort Lauderdale could be proven beyond doubt. In twelve other cases, he was considered suspicious at the time of his death. He had corresponded with the serial killer Henry Lee Lucas and asked him for details about his actions.

He was sentenced to death in Mississippi in 1993 for child murder and to life imprisonment in Florida in 1995 for the murder of one of the prostitutes whom he had also strangled ten years earlier . During his incarceration and during both trials , he made fun of the trial and made absurd motions almost daily. In Florida he demanded that the court address him as "Hi Hitler" .

At Mississippi State Prison , he was stabbed to death by a inmate while showering.
