Donald Wilbur Stewart

Donald Wilbur Stewart (born February 8, 1940 in Munford , Alabama ) is an American politician.

Stewart studied at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and then attended the law school of that university. He was admitted to the bar in 1965 and practiced in Anniston . From 1970 to 1974 he was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives and was then a Senator in the state's Senate from 1974 to 1978. On November 7, 1978, Stewart Democrat was elected to the United States Senate to fill the vacant seat of James B. Allen and bring his term to an end. Stewart represented the state of Alabama in the United States Senate from November 8, 1978 to January 2, 1981 .
