Donald Wheelock

Donald Wheelock (* 1940 ) is an American composer and music teacher .

Wheelock is a graduate of Union College and Yale University and has received two Guggenheim scholarships . He has been teaching at Smith College since 1974 , where he holds the Pauline Alper Glass Professorship for Music. He composed six string quartets, works for solo instruments, eleven song cycles (based on texts by Frederick Busch , Susan Snively , Richard Wilbur and William Butler Yeats, among others ) as well as some works for larger ensembles and for orchestra.
